On December 7, 2012, the governor of the state of Oyo presented this prestigious award to Bernadette Strebel, President of the ABSWP.

The award was presented in recognition of the ABSWP's “extraordinary contribution” to “sustainable forest maintenance through private afforestation”. The award certificate confirms: “The forest care authority has followed your sustainable commitment to the planting of trees with great interest. In a unique way, you have contributed to increasing carbon stocks and thus mitigating the negative effects of climate change. The forest maintenance authority is pleased to have partners like you in the global search for solutions to improve environmental conditions ». Bernadette Strebel was praised by the honorable Ilori Bola, the Governor's Special Representative for “Environmental Protection and Beautification”, for her initiative in finding solutions to problems for Nigeria. It does not limit itself to just pointing out grievances, which, according to Ilori Bola, some foreign media outlets are doing. Nigeria is proud of the efforts of Bernadette Strebel and her team, who have not only created jobs, but also protect the environment and nature and promote peace far from any religious rivalry. The award ceremony and the respect issued in this context were broadcast by the most important African TV stations.
